Seattle Seahawks vs Washington Football Team Betting Preview: Seahawks Provide Good Betting Value in Meh MNF Matchup

Seattle and Washington are struggling to meet expectations this NFL season and are headed for losing seasons. It will be interesting to see who can muster the effort to get a win in their Monday night matchup.

For Seattle, this is a poorly constructed team that crashed hard without quarterback Russell Wilson available. There are whispers that the Pete Caroll era is coming to a close.

In D.C., they thought they had a defense good enough to take the pressure off the offense. Losing starting quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick early on has not made things any easier.

Seattle Seahawks vs Washington Football Betting Preview

Seattle has a massive injury list this week, but their biggest asset, Wilson, isn’t on it. If the offensive line can give him enough time, Seattle should be able to move the ball against an overrated, injury-hit Washington defense. The Seahawks have some wild defensive splits. They are seventh in points allowed even though they are dead last in yards. I can see that coming to fruition again in this matchup as they might allow Washington to move the ball between the 20s but then stiffen in the red zone against a team with no real special weapons.

Washington has won their last two games, so they are still somewhat relevant in the NFC East. They still have all four games against Philadelphia and Dallas left on their schedule, so they can play catchup if they can get games like this one to stay close. On offense, it is hard to know what to expect from QB Taylor Heinicke. I like the way he runs around, but it seems like nothing is ever easy for him or the offense. The drives are never smooth. Washington is good at stopping the run on defense but Seattle rarely emphasizes that anymore. They need their defensive line to step up.

Seattle Seahawks vs Washington Football Team Best Bet

Seattle Seahawks -1

The Seahawks have been a total letdown this season, but to me, Russell Wilson is still the most dependable element in this game for either side. With such a short line I am relying on him to make enough plays to win on the road. Their season might be lost because they are in a much more competitive division, but with WRs DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett, he should be able to put points on the board against Washington to get the victory.

Prop Watch: Tyler Lockett Over 5.5 Receptions (+108)

I am expecting the Seahawks to throw the ball often tonight. Lockett is one of those receivers who is honestly open on almost every play. They like to use him to soften up the defense for big plays to Metcalf. I like Russ to put the ball in the air close to 40 times tonight and for Lockett to grab about 8 balls. The plus value on this one makes it even better.
