BMW Championship Betting Preview: The Playoffs Continue This Weekend. A Tough Top Heavy Field Has Lots of Great Options

After an exciting Monday finish at The Northern Trust, we are off to the next round of the FedEx Cup Playoffs. This week’s event is the BMW Championship at Caves Valley Golf Club outside of Baltimore.

This week we have 70 top players competing in this second playoff event. After this weekend, only 30 players will be left standing for the Tour Championship, so the pressure is on.

At last year’s BMW Championship, Jon Rahm defeated Dustin Johnson in the first playoff hole. It was at a different venue, but I am sure everyone would love to see a similar finish. Some players know they have enough points, and others need a strong finish to stay in the race.

BMW Championship Best Bets

Jon Rahm to win

As with last week, you shouldn’t not take him if you think he is going to win. The argument against making this play is not strong. And after playing himself out of a playoff on Monday by bogeying two of his last four holes, he should be raring to get rid of that sour taste here.

Scottie Scheffler to finish in the top 10

This is a big course, and it should suit Scheffler’s game. He also has to play with some urgency or he might not be advancing to the next event without a strong finish.

Bryson DeChambeau to finish in the top 5

He might not be at his best coming into the BMW Championship, but as the longest driver in the game, he has a big advantage for this course. He can put it together this weekend if he gets off to a good start.

I am also a big fan of him at +2800 to win as well. There is great value there.

Dustin Johnson to win

He has had success on this course in the past and we are getting him at a steal of a price. Similar to backing Rahm, it might be best not to overthink it. I am not guaranteeing a win, but if he does and you talked yourself out of it, you will kick yourself.

Justin Thomas to win

Similar to DJ, it seems like we rarely get a price this good with Thomas, who might be rounding into form at the perfect time. I love the idea of stacking Thomas and Johnson. I would be surprised if both of them are not in the hunt on Sunday.
