Stymie Stakes Preview

Aqueduct Race 8

Post: 4:30 PM ET; Purse: $125,000 Stymie S., 1 Mile on Dirt; Entries: 7

Green Light Go will be favored in the Stymie at Aqueduct
Green Light Go wins easily at Belmont
  • #1 GREEN LIGHT GO (6-5) comes into the race in great form and has been ultra consistent at the mile distance. This one looks tough.
  • #5 MILTON THE MONSTER (8-1) has the top speed figures in the group and goes out for solid connections
  • #2 WAXMAN (7-2) is another who has been productive at this distance.
  • #7 OUR LAST BUCK (12-1) is a hard knocking horse who always seems to put up a solid effort.

Selections: 1-5-2-7

Saturday Undercard Preview

Aqueduct Race 1

Post: 12:50 PM ET; Purse: $70,000 Maiden Special Weight, 7 Furlongs on Dirt; Entries: 7

  • #1 GALAXINA (1-2) is experienced and highly touted coming into this one. This one won’t offer value, especially as an entry, but this one should win for fun.
  • #3 TONIGHT WE LOVE (10-1) gets Kendrick Carmouche in the irons and he loves to steal races by being aggressive.
  • #5 FROSTY INVASION (8-1) has a foundation that could serve her well late.
  • #2 BIG BEAN CHRISTINE (12-1) draws the rail and maybe has a chance to get up for a piece if they go too fast early.

Selections: 1-3-5-2

Aqueduct Race 2

Post: 1:20 PM ET; Purse: $28,000 Claiming, 1 Mile on Dirt; Entries: 9

  • #5 PROFUSION (2-1) has the top speed figures in the group and should get a really nice setup.
  • #4 FOREVER WICKED (8-1) really likes to run the mile and should be a factor in the trifecta if he shows up.
  • #8 LOKOYA ROAD (5-2) has decent speed and should be able to carry that the distance.
  • #1 IT'S MANDATORY (7-2) will have Dylan Davis aboard and he can be a little aggressive at times. If he keeps this one in touch early, he could have a big shot late.

Selections: 5-4-8-1 (Best Bet #5 PROFUSION)

Aqueduct Race 3

Post: 1:50 PM ET; Purse: $72,000 Allowance, 6 1/2 Furlongs on Dirt; Entries: 7

  • #7 REGGAE MUSIC MAN (7-2) is the class of the field and maybe that’s enough to beat an an otherwise formidable favorite.
  • #4 THE COBBLER (7-5) has really good speed figures and should be a major player. I think the rider is a little overrated, but the trainer is solid.
  • #1 BIG BROWN SHOES (8-1) is one who has run against some really tough opponents. Perhaps they have brought him into form to run a big one here.
  • #6 JOHNNY FONTAINE (6-1) should have a solid foundation to get the extra half furlong that’s been tacked on to this sprint race.

Selections: 7-4-1-6

Aqueduct Race 4

Post: 2:18 PM ET; Purse: $35,000 Maiden Claiming, 1 Mile on Dirt; Entries: 9

  • #8 ICE KREEM SUNDAE (4-1) is a first time starter for Rudy Rodriguez. Typically any decent maiden runner at the big A in the winter will run in the special weight divisions, so this one shouldn’t have too much to beat in here.
  • #1 PALS ALLY (5-2) has the best speed figures in the group.
  • #2 BELLS ON HER TOES (6-1) will try to set the pace early. There isn’t a lot of confirmed speed in the race so maybe that sets this one up for a wire job.
  • #6 KAY TEE GAL (9-2) comes from the Pletcher barn. While his top stock may be at Gulfstream, this one looks good enough against this meager group.

Selections: 8-1-2-6

Aqueduct Race 5

Post: 2:50 PM ET; Purse: $80,000 Maiden Special Weight, 6 Furlongs on Dirt; Entries: 9

  • #9 MYSTIC QUEST (5-2) is well bred out of the Pletcher barn and gets a notoriously good gate rider which is important with these lightly raced types.
  • #5 JESTER'S SONG (7-2) has the top speed figures against the toughest competition thus far in the career.
  • #4 ACTUALIZE (6-1) should be a part of the pace battle early and may be able to carry that all the way around.
  • #2 STRAPPED (8-1) will also go out for the Pletcher barn and gets Lezcano in the saddle. The rider difference suggests that the #9 is Pletcher’s better runner, but this one could still be a factor.

Selections: 9-5-4-2

Aqueduct Race 6

Post: 3:23 PM ET; Purse: $55,000 Starter Allowance, 1 Mile on Dirt; Entries: 9

  • #4 ROCK SUGAR (5-1) is productive at the mile distance and has the best figures in the group. I respect the morning line maker at NYRA, but this one screams value.
  • #3 ROCCO STRONG (6-1) is in great form entering this race and is another price capable of pulling the upset here.
  • #7 EXTREME (7-2) could be the early pace setter and may be hard to reel in late.
  • #2 PERCEIVED (9-2) has faced some really good foes en route to this race and should be ready for this contest.

Selections: 4-3-7-2

Aqueduct Race 7

Post: 3:57 PM ET; Purse: $84,000 Allowance Optional Claiming, 1 Mile on Dirt; Entries: 13

  • #2 ZOOMER (7-2) has the top overall speed figures in the group and draws favorable in this spot.
  • #8 DANNY CALIFORNIA (5-1) is a hard knocking type who should be right there at the end.
  • #1A SOUND MONEY (2-1) gets the benefit of having an entry mate in the race. This is definitely the half of the entry that I prefer.
  • #11 CAPTAIN BOMBASTIC (10-1) could get a really nice race flow in this spot.

Selections: 2-8-1A-11

Aqueduct Race 8

Post: 4:30 PM ET; Purse: $125,000 Stymie S., 1 Mile on Dirt; Entries: 7

  • Stymie Stakes analysis provided above.

Selections: 1-5-2-7

Aqueduct Race 9

Post: 5:01 PM ET; Purse: $36,000 Claiming, 6 Furlongs on Dirt; Entries: 10

  • #8 HONOR AMONG MEN (7-2) should be on the engine early and will look to blitz this field off their feet.
  • #6 VICTORY BUILT (9-2) comes into the race in top form and could be a difficult competitor to put away.
  • #3 FOREST SPIRIT (6-1) appears to be the class of the field.
  • #9 SWINTON (5-1) has the top speed figures in the group and has to be considered a threat.

Selections: 8-6-3-9
