Celtics vs Warriors Betting Preview: Starpower and Inconsistency on Display

Boston is getting a lot of West Coast flavor these days. It started at home with the Los Angeles Lakers and now they are out West to begin a five-game road trip. Their road splits are not great and now they‘ll have to try to figure out how to contain Steph Curry.

Golden State remains mysterious. One day they are beating the Lakers and the next they are losing to the New York Knicks. There is just not much rhyme or reason to this team. This should be a fun watch though with some of the best offensive players in the game on display.

Boston Celtics Betting Preview

The Celtics were hoping to get a lift with the return of Kemba Walker. That has not been the case as they are 1-5 in the games since he has come back from injury. That is a bad sign, especially given half of those games were against Philly and the Lakers, team they are going to have to compete with if they want to win it all.

It is hard not to love the games of forwards Jayson Tatum and Jaylon Brown, two versatile scorers who rebound and defend. With Walker struggling maybe Boston is more of a nice playoff team than a championship contender. They are going to be a hard team to back as a favorite in some spots as they figure that out. They are just 5-5 ATS as a favorite and 4-6 ATS on the road this season.

Golden State Warriors Betting Preview

With the Warriors, it feels like every game is an adventure. The headline “Draymond Green is back” surfaces every couple of weeks and until he is more consistent this team is going to be up and down.

Steph Curry is having another great season. He is scoring 27ppg in just 33 minutes and you have to wonder if at some point in the season they might turn him loose a little more.

Golden State is not a big team but they will play even smaller with rookie James Wiseman out with an injury. He was having typical rookie issues but at least he gave them some rim protection. The Warriors are in pretty good form having won three of four but the three were against poor teams and the one loss against a team with a winning record.

Boston Celtics vs. Golden State Warriors Betting Advice

This is just a good schematic matchup for the Celtics. In guard Marcus Smart they have someone well equipped to make it very difficult for Curry. Curry will get some points but Smart will definitely reduce the efficiency. Ditto with whoever they decide to use between Tatum and Brown on Warriors forward Andrew Wiggins. Boston can win most of the matches on the floor and that sets up well to get the win on the road without too much stress. The small spread is thanks to their recent results so you don’t want to miss this buy-low opportunity. We can examine their futures odds to win the Eastern Conference or the NBA Finals another day.

Best Bets

  • Celtics -2.5
  • Daniel Theis to Score 10+ Points -122
  • Jaylen Brown Over 24.5 Points -110 (Not sure why he would be held under his average in this one)
