New England Patriots vs Atlanta Falcons Betting Preview: Pats Push for Fifth Straight Win in Super Bowl LI Rematch

New England Patriots vs Atlanta Falcons Betting Preview: Pats Push for Fifth Straight Win in Super Bowl LI Rematch

I suppose it should be no surprise that coach Bill Belichick has figured out a formula for winning football without Tom Brady. With each win, it looks more and more likely that the Pats will return to the NFL playoffs.

The Falcons are looking for a win to get up to .500. Once you are at that mark a playoff berth in the NFC is possible.

I have been slow to believe in New England, to my detriment. They just don’t look like much until they hit the field.

New England Patriots vs Atlanta Falcons Best Bet

New England Patriots -6.5

There is a lot to like about the Patriots right now. They have won four straight and are 4-0 on the road for the season. I admit I did not see it coming, but they whipped the Browns 45-7 in Week 10. Thanks to wins like that, they are sixth in the NFL in scoring and second in points allowed. That is about as complete a statistical profile as you will find in the league. I am still not a true believer in rookie QB Mac Jones, but as the season has progressed, he has been able to create more big plays to his receivers. With a strong defense, he might be enough for the Pats to have sustained success this season.

While New England hit a new high last week the Falcons might have hit a new low, as they suffered a 43-3 rout on the road against the Dallas Cowboys. Top receiver Calvin Ridley remains away from the team due to personal reasons, and utility guy Cordarelle Patterson is a question mark for tonight due to an ankle injury. Tight end Kyle Pitts is enjoying a strong rookie season, but it is tough to ask him to carry the offense.

Based on last week’s results, this line could definitely be inflated. The Patriots looked great, and the Falcons looked terrible. I am still solid on New England on the road because they have been winning there all season, and I don’t trust Atlanta to stop anyone. Mac Jones and the offense are not elite, but they won’t have to be to score 28-31 points and get the cover in this one.

NFL Betting Prop Watch: New England OVER 27 Points

I love this play. It just makes sense on so many levels. We are not asking too much of the Patriots in this spot. The Falcons are bad on defense and have given up 28 points to the following teams: the Cowboys, Dolphins, Washington Football Team, Bucs, and Eagles. Only the Cowboys and Bucs are above average offenses in that group.
