In the history of the Super Bowl, the anthem has been performed at every game but one, to date. At Super Bowl XI, held at the Rose Bowl on January 9, 1977–the earliest Super Bowl date in the game’s history–singer Vikki Carr sang “America the Beautiful” instead of “The Star-Spangled Banner.”
