Wyndham Championship Betting Preview: This is the Last Chance for Players To Qualify for the Big Money

The Wyndham Championship is the final regular-season tournament before the start of the FedEx Cup Playoffs. A player’s season can be made or broken depending on where they are after the cut on Friday or Sunday’s final round, so urgency is high this week. Essentially there is no tomorrow for some. Many of the world’s top players are taking this week off to rest up for the playoffs so there is a golden opportunity for those in the field.

Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, North Carolina is a par-71 course that has seen golfers post incredibly low scores in the past. Jim Herman won last year's tournament at 21 under par. You actually have to go back to 2015 to find a winner with a score higher than 20 under.

Wyndham Championship Best Bets

Webb Simpson +1200
Simpson is going to be a very popular play this week. Not only is he talented enough to best the field, he is very familiar with the course. I believe that no other player has as many rounds at Sedgefield as he does. He won there in 2011 and has finished in the top three at the last four events there. There are not many players who have had that kind of regular success on any course. He is at the top of the list though, so if you like him too, the sooner you make the bet the better.

Hideki Matsuyama +1400
He almost won the bronze at the Olympics, so he is in good form. Also, he has played well at Sedgefield in the past. That is a pretty good combination to take a chance on this weekend.

Louis Oosthuizen +1800
This is a pretty sweet number for what some think has been the best golfer in the field over the past year. He doesn’t have to be here and should be nice and relaxed.

Si Woo Kim +4000
Kim also had success in each of his last two appearances in Greensboro. In 2019, Kim finished in fifth place and he improved that to a tie for third last year. There is an emerging trend there.

Charl Schwartzel +5000
He is having one of his best seasons, including a runner-up finish at the 3M Open. He also has a third-place finish on this course, back in 2015. At this point on the odds list, you are not going to get an obvious choice.

Hank Lebioda + 6600
This is a massive underdog play, but Lebioda posted back-to-back top-fives at the Travelers and in Detroit. His style seems to suit the course too.
