Parx Preview: Analisys and Selections from Philadelphia

Plenty of action in the lead up to Pegasus World Cup from Parx.

Parx is scheduled to have its typical 3 day race week which kicks off on Monday. Based on the current projections all races should be run on a fast dirt.

Monday Analysis

Parx can be a really tricky course to handicap. At a track like this with low level claimers, trainer statistics can often be an important part of the handicapping process. Trainer standings for the current meet at Parx can be found on the Equibase website.

Parx Race Course Race 1

Post: 12:10 PM ET; Purse: $21,000 Claiming, 5 1/2 Furlongs on Dirt; Entries: 6

#6 PEAK OF CHIC (9-5) is a major player in today's race edging the field in several key handicapping factors including speed & power rating. #4 LIVE AID (7-2) also makes a lot of sense here as the recent form suggests she can be very competitive. #3 NOT A TRACE (9-2) wouldn't be a huge surprise in the winner's circle. #1 MS CANELA (3-1) should be in the right spot early to give this horse a chance to get the job done.

Selections: 6-4-3-1

Parx Race Course Race 2

Post: 12:37 PM ET; Purse: $19,000 Maiden Claiming, 1 1/16 Miles on Dirt; Entries: 7

#2 FASTLIFE (9-5) looks formidable here given the edge in a number of key categories including speed & class. #4 A BIT BAD N BOUJEE (8-1) is proven as a good bet to at least hit the board under today's distance and surface conditions. #5 BRODY SLAM (5-2) should be forwardly placed and able to stay off what can often be a tricky rail. #6 CRIMSON LILLE (8-1) makes some sense on paper and the price is right on this runner.

Selections: 2-4-5-6 (Best Bet: #2 Fast Life)

Parx Race Course Race 3

Post: 1:04 PM ET; Purse: $21,000 Claiming, 6 Furlongs on Dirt; Entries: 7

#4 PYLON (5-2) has a great shot in the race given the speed & power rating. #6 WE BE THERE (7-2) has to be respected based on the connections. #7 HALSTAAT (8-1) is a longshot who projects to outrun the odds in this one. #3 JACKS AMERICAN PIE (4-1) looks to have to have kept the best company in the previous starts.

Selections: 4-6-7-3

Parx Race Course Race 4

Post: 1:31 PM ET; Purse: $23,000 Maiden Claiming, 7 Furlongs on Dirt; Entries: 7

#3 SHE'SFIRSTCLASS (4-1) is a major player in today's race edging the field in several key handicapping factors including speed & pace numbers. #6 RELENTLESS RUBY (5-1) has breeding that suggests this one could run a sneaky race under these conditions. #2 NICKYS NOTION (3-1) is competitive on paper, but the price doesn’t reflect value. #5 SATCH (5-1) could get a perfect pace scenario today.

Selections: 3-6-2-5

Parx Race Course Race 5

Post: 1:58 PM ET; Purse: $22,000 Claiming, 1 Mile 70 Yards on Dirt; Entries: 6

#2 SOCIAL GROUP (8-5) looks tough to beat here given the edge in a number of key categories including speed & class. #6 IMPACTFUL (2-1) is a major player based on speed figures. #4 LUCKY HERO (4-1) merits consideration in this spot given how the race projects to setup. #5 YONDERING (5-1) rounds out my top four selections, but definitely feels like more of a fringe player.

Selections: 2-6-4-5

Parx Race Course Race 6

Post: 2:25 PM ET; Purse: $25,000 Starter Optional Claiming, 1 Mile on Dirt; Entries: 9

#9 DISTRACTANDATTACK (3-1) has a great shot in the race given the recent form & class. #7 SCOOP DAWG (8-1) is a major player based on speed figures. #1 DRONE SWARM (5-1) is worth a look here given the connections. #2 MR. TUTTLE (6-1) is worth a look here based on the projected flow of the race.

Selections: 9-7-1-2

Parx Race Course Race 7

Post: 2:52 PM ET; Purse: $26,000 Claiming, 1 1/8 Miles on Dirt; Entries: 9

#5 BOUNCING AROUND (3-1) is a major player in today's race edging the field in several key handicapping factors including speed & connections. #2 OFF THE MEDS (6-1) is worth a look here given edges in class & record at the distance. #6 BORSA VENTO (6-1) is worth a look here given edges in form & power rating. #4 RELISHMENT (20-1) looks to have to have kept the best company in the previous starts.

Selections: 5-2-6-4

Parx Race Course Race 8

Post: 3:19 PM ET; Purse: $45,000 Allowance, 1 Mile 70 Yards on Dirt; Entries: 7

#2 PEYTON ELIZABETH (2-1) looks formidable here given the edge in a number of key categories including speed & class. #7 IT'S SO EASY (8-5) will likely have the stamina to outlast these in the final jumps of the race. #4 ASSUME CONTROL (5-1) and #1 SENSE A MILLION (10-1) have both been running against better of late. The class relief may help them to run better than their odds suggest.

Selections: 2-7-4-1

Parx Race Course Race 9

Post: 3:46 PM ET; Purse: $35,000 Allowance, 7 Furlongs on Dirt; Entries: 8

#4 LULA'S ROADRUNNER (5-1) is one of my two longshot plays on the card. This one has good speed figures and the top power rating in the group. #8 CAUSE I SAID (4-1) is with a great chance based on the horse's connections & pace numbers. #7 CARTOUCHE (9-2) looks to have to have kept the best company in the previous starts. #6 GIA'S FUEGO (7-2) is worth a look here given the pace setup and recent form.

Selections: 4-8-7-6

Parx Race Course Race 10

Post: 4:13 PM ET; Purse: $21,000 Claiming, 6 Furlongs on Dirt; Entries: 11

#5 JUMP SHOT (8-1) has been running well of late and I like this one to upset the apple cart in the last. #11 MACH TRIAL (7-2) is worth a look here given edges in stamina & power rating. #1 STRAWBERRY RED (6-1) is worth a look here given the connections & early pace numbers. #8 FED FEVER (10-1) is another interesting longshot who isn’t without hope in this spot.

Selections: 5-11-1-8
